we are not alone

we are heading into that time of year that can feel so beautiful and profound and also can feel very lonely and overwhelming. i'm going to be do my best over here to toss light in your direction, to try to remind us all that we're not alone, to just offer a small candle flame in a crazy season. but i know from my own personal experience that sometimes we just can't find that flicker of light we're looking for. at least, we can't find it outside of ourselves. those are the times i've found that i need to go inward and find it.

wanted to remind us all to keep our eyes out for the light and to pass as much around as we can - and when we're feeling like there's just not a flicker to be found, to go deep inside and find it there. when i'm lost with all that, gratitude seems to be a key to open the door. kinda perfect timing as we near this thanksgiving. holdin' the light, holdin' the gratitude and squeezin' your hand -

(want to share something? would love to include you! drop me a note and let me know your news! i'll share!)

*les came by and shared a great organization with me. i had no idea they existed! and for any writers in the area, you're gonna love this! and actually, now that i think of it, you don't have to be in the area - i do believe there's on-line offerings as well. how cool that places like this exist. come check out the writer's center! thanks for sharing, les.

* and since we're mentioning les, let's shout him out again. have you guys heard his music?! i'm truly a fan. come on over and give him a listen! you won't be sorry!

* christina's the author of a new book called 'Crown Hill: Love, Life and the Afterlife.' it's a unique story based on the history of the 150 year old house that she lives in. you get to read a bit of the perspective of the house as the different people move in and out. i like that angle. makes me wonder about my own house! come on by and check it out for yourself!

* josh starts the kindness exchange this month! yes, this is the same guy who has the kooky poster at the end of this newsletter! he's my crazy, aggressive, good hearted, kind soul who started the kindness exchange last year at this time and it was such a success he's doing it again! come on over and be a part of it!

*cheryl is our spotlight feature this month! she wrote a book that i really really loved. it got me thinking and pondering my own life stuff. and THAT is always a treat! she's an author, a coach, and a really wonderful woman.
come on by and read about cheryl!

offerings

- flickers of light -

the flame inside her
the flame inside her

"longing for a flicker
of light
and finding it nowhere,

she turned inward
and ignited the flame
inside her."
hold a candle
hold a candle

"hold a candle in the darkness and believe."
light changes dark
light changes dark

"light changes dark.
it doesn't matter the size
of the flame -
it's the keeping it lit
that counts."

i am enough

"lifting the cover of shame and self doubt, she dropped it on the ground. stepping into the light she slowly lifted her head. this is who i am. and i am here. and i am enough. the light warmed her face and her heart."

we're the light

"maybe it's not all darkness, she thought. maybe it's a chance for us to be who we really are. and maybe that's the light that shines in the darkness. maybe we're the light we're looking for."

honor yourself

an offering for those lost in dark places - a collection of poems -

for keely

"there's something inside of you, she said.
a flame.
a gorgeous flame of light. every action you take affects the flame.
some actions make it shine brighter.
some make it flicker and dim.
and some grow it and make it bigger inside.
every moment counts to this flame.
every action matters.'
she held her face to the girl's and whispered,
'dance with honesty and trust thru your journey, and you will grow your flame. grow your flame ,
and you will ignite the world."

holiday connection

feeling lonely and need of some sort of fun interaction?!
or just want to add a little extra happiness to your holiday season?
well, come join the annual holiday connection at bone sigh arts!
(previously called 'the holiday swap')
email terri your name and mailing (snail mail) address, terri will match you up with
another person and their mailing address. you can find each other on facebook,
email each other, or just kinda lay low and keep it quiet. that's okay too.
but by december 15, you will need to drop a little something in the mail
to your connection! it can be as easy as a card, as creative as a poem or
song you wrote, as elaborate as a real store bought gift, or as special as a home-made goodie.
the ONLY RULE is that it HAS to be mailed by december 15th!
(if for some reason, you sign up and then find you can't fulfill that, please let terri know
so she or someone else can cover for you!)
that's it! it's that easy! i've heard awesome stories of wonderful connections
and it's such great fun to hear! i've also heard some disappointing ones where
people never got their 'thinking of you' in the mail. so only sign up if you REALLY
will follow thru! and let's make this year's stories rock!
join in the fun and let's light up the world!

a tree whispers

a tree's whisper

i was having a hard time not too long ago so i went to visit a tree that i love.
and i told her that i was struggling with just being myself and some of the feelings
that go along with it. after the initial hello and telling her what was on my mind,
i sat down with my stethoscope! (i kid you not!) and i leaned my back against her trunk,
listened to my heart for awhile and remembered my sacredness, and then i listened to her whispers -

~ a new card ~

her world

her world

it was when the stillness happened.
when the quiet roared in.
it was then she noticed that the latch had lifted.
that the door stood open.
and there it was - her world.
her world that had waited so long for her.
whispering ever so softly, 'it's time.'

inner verse - ...and now the journey begins.

~ giving thanks ~

i was going to send out a separate thanksgiving card closer to thanksgiving,
but sometimes i worry about flooding you guys! there will be a holiday card
i just have to send to you next month, so this month i decided i'd just write a note here.

i think i holler a bit about how much i appreciate you.
but you can never say that too much, can you?!
so i want to say it again!

it's no understatement when i say you guys have changed my entire life.
your purchases from bone sigh arts keep me afloat and keep me doing what matters to me.
your notes of encouragement always seem to land when i need them most,
and your sharing your part of your journey with me has made my journey so much deeper.

thank you for being part of bone sighs, and part of me.
how amazingly beautiful that we're all connected and matter so much more than
we really can grasp.

this thanksgiving, and truly, every single day, i thank the universe for your presence in my life.
happy thanksgiving to you and those you love.

thanksgiving

"she closed her eyes
and thought of her year.
it couldn't be just the "good" she was
thankful for.
it had to be the "all"...
the fullness, the depths, the journey.
the dance of Life.
for these she gave thanks."
