holiday exchange

We all know the holidays can be hard for a lotta of us for a lotta reasons. Last year, spontaneously, the holiday swap was born on the bone sigh arts face book page. And the fun and enthusiasm was contagious!

Jenny commented and said she hadn't felt creative in ages. I suggested she make me a goodie, and i'd make her one. Just to kinda get our creative juices flowing. Well, the next thing I knew, everyone was hopping on board. Wanting to send a card, a goodie, a thought, a letter, whatever felt right to brighten someone's season up.

People sent me their mailing addresses and I matched them up with another person's mailing address. It was up to each person if they wanted to remain a mystery or introduce themselves and become friends. What was sent didn't matter, it was the thought behind it. Some sent letters and notes and cards, some made things, some sent books that were meaningful to them...whatever felt right was sent.

Facebook made it fun for people to go check other people out and see what their interests were. I have heard that some people made delightful connections and have been enjoying each other ever since.

And what I heard the most from people playing was that it felt so good to think about another person and how to brighten their holiday, that it brightened up the giver's holiday just as much.

want to play? it's easy!

we'll do the actual kick off go coincide with josh's kindness exchange on november 20th.

there will be shouting and the start of address swaping then! (you can start sending me addresses now tho if you like!)

the bone sigh arts facebook page is a great place to keep an eye on what's happening and a really easy way for you to privately send me your mailing addresses. if you're not on there, you can use regular email as well. (terri@bonesigharts.com)

there are no rules on what to send. Anything works. The idea is to make the thought the gift, and to reach out to brighten the season for someone else. Many many people who join in are struggling and in the dark and this is a light you're sharing.

We ask that you only participate if you know you'll follow thru. We don't want anyone left out. And if you can't follow thru for some reason, to please let me know so we can make sure your person is covered.

It was such a joy last year! How fun to be doing it again!
