read my daily meditation today
from mark nepo’s
‘the book of awakening’
his first line right at the top of the page grabbed me –
‘the deeper the cry, the more clear the choice.’
he describes a struggling friend of his who had to go
deeper past the upper distractions.
‘Underneath all the painful ambiguities and assessments,
his very soul was drowning, sinking out of reach of the
feel of life. Once hearing the deeper cry within himself,
his choice became extremely basic and very straightforward:
How do I regain my wonder at being alive? What must I do
to keep my heart from sinking?’
i thought that just might be a couple questions all of us
would like to keep in mind. thought i’d share.
