Where to Find Us!

Join us for our next show on WomanTalk Live this coming Saturday,
Oct. 4th from 6-7 pm on Talkradio 680 WCBM in Baltimore.

Not in the listening area? Then, get on your computer and go directly to Listen Live , sit back and take it all in.

If you miss us on Saturday evening, or if you have a friend you think would enjoy hearing the show, within a few days, be sure to check out the podcast of the show at WomanTalk Live Podcast Central. In fact, most of our shows are available on podcasts. Check them out! However, you may have already figured this out if you've been to our podcast page. Currently, our podcasts prior to our February 20th show are out of action right now. We've had some technical difficulties. We are working on recapturing everything we lost. So, in time, we are hoping to have most of those podcasts back up. Thanks for your patience.

And, be sure to check out our WomanTalk Live website. Boschel Creative, one of our sponsors, did a fabulous job. Find out information about all of our great sponsors and check out other great events and happenings we have going on.

Plus…just a reminder that every week, we give away an incredible Prize Pack from our sponsors and guests. It's always full of good things to nourish and support you. Sometimes, when we share what's being given away, we even want to run out of the studio and make a phone call! Yes…it's that good. When you hear Blondie singing Call Me, be sure to start dialing 410.922.6680 and have a question or comment ready for our guest. The first caller wins it all!

We continue to be amazed at the number of men who are listening to the show - and calling in to win the Prize Pack! No doubt, they are a big hit with the women in their life when they start sharing their Prize Pack goodies.

We also think these guys are on to something…they really love our show! Could it be the topics appeal to everybody or are these guys just extra, extra smart? We think it's both!

LAST WEEK: Our studio was blessed last week with four incredible women who have opened their hearts to help teach, heal, nurture and celebrate all women. Margaret Locklear-Peck, poet, writer, performance artist and creator of The Belly of a Woman - From the Motherland to Uncle Sam, joined us to talk about her work and her upcoming benefit performance for The Spiral Dance Womyn's Center on Saturday, Oct. 4th. Also, Nicole McQueen, producer and director of the film short, Stop the Madness , which will be shown at the benefit, joined us. And, Laurie Kendall and Bobbie DeVoll, the founders of Spiral Dance, shared their dream and vision come to life for the center, which provides space and resources for women to empower themselves personally through adult education, cultural arts, health and wellness, spirituality and community building. Listen in for some inspiration. The podcast is up now.

"I never expected to wear an apron and call out 'venti latte'!"
- Michael Gates Gill

The story is good enough to be a movie. Michael Gates Gill is a son of privilege. His father was Brendon Gill, the well-known writer and critic for the New Yorker. He grew up in a huge Tudor mansion in prosperous Bronxville. He was Yale educated and went on to become an advertising executive at the prestigious J. Walter Thompson firm, earning plenty.

And then, the entitled middle-aged white guy starts to lose it all. At 53, he loses his job, and he starts his own consulting business. But, that didn't work either. His marriage falls apart as a result of an affair (gaining a newborn son in the process). He is diagnosed with a brain tumor - and, has no insurance. And, he's broke.

A week after his diagnosis, he's sitting in Starbucks with his Brooks Brothers suit on and holding a fancy briefcase. And, he has no where to go and has no idea what to do with his life. It just so happened that Starbucks was interviewing that day, and a young woman said, "Would you like a job?" Michael said, "Yes, I need a job."

His life changed forever. He's now a barista and loves making good coffee for his customers. In fact, he loves Starbucks soooo much, you'd think he had been drinking their Kool-Aid instead of the lattes.

A story good enough to be a movie? Tom Hanks thought so. Look for the movie based on Michael's book, How Starbucks Saved My Life, starring Tom Hanks as Michael, possibly coming out before the end of the year. And, tune in on Saturday as Michael shares his new wisdom with us, about life, love and what's important.

From time to time, WomanTalk Live will be planning
get-togethers. It'll be a chance for us to meet, chat, do something fun, try something new.

Our next event? We aren't sure yet, but we're thinking about it and will let you know as soon as we figure it out! Do you need to have some fun and maybe meet some other really cool women? Well, click PUT ME ON THAT LIST! I NEED TO GET OUT!, and of course, you'll be the first person we invite!

Getting out, meeting new friends and having some fun…the cure for taking life too seriously.

Calling all Girls Gone Great in the state of Maryland!

The October 31st deadline for submitting an essay will be sneaking up quickly. The contest has been expanded this year to include young Maryland women who will be juniors or seniors starting in this Fall 2008 school year. And, there are great prizes to be won!

Know a future Girl Gone Great? Let them know about the 2009 scholarship essay contest and tell them to get their essays written and submitted! Help us spread the word that WomanTalk Live is looking for its next Girl Gone Great!

WomanTalk Live wants the women serving in the Middle East to know that the women in Maryland support them. We will be collecting some of the necessities and niceties to package up and send to our sisters in combat.

Want to help, too?

Times have changed. The very first place people most often visit when investigating your business is your website. Immediately, a first impression is formed. If your site looks unprofessional or functions poorly, you might have lost the only opportunity you had to make a connection with a potential client. Boschel Creative is an interactive design and development firm that combines striking design and dynamic functionality to make your business work every hour (even when you need to take a break).

Boschel specializes in web design and development, providing the best of both worlds: eye-catching designs that are structured effectively for users, and dynamic functionality that reduces time, minimizes costs, and increases results. In addition, they facilitate your site with various forms of print media such as advertisements, brochures, direct mail postcards, tradeshow displays and more…all to promote your site and business even further with a coordinated and branded look.

Boschel Creative designed the WomanTalk Live website and we get all sorts of compliments all of the time. However, it's just one example of the incredible work they do. Check out their portfolio. To learn how Boschel Creative can start helping you, call 410.638.6601 or email them now.

We love letting people know about businesses, services and events which we feel may be just the thing they were looking for! Are you interested in getting your word out?
